About the Artist...

Delvea is an artist self-taught in a variety of media, resulting in a highly developed but very personal style.  Born in Guelph, Ontario in 1959, Delvea first came to attention as a charter member of the "Jefferson Street Gallery" in Ellicottville, New York for two years.  It was through her exposure there that she developed a steady following throughout western New York, her 'horse' portraits being particularly in demand.  Her reputation extended much further than New York State in 1998, when Ducks Unlimited selected her as one of their Artists of the year. 

While her "canvas" might range in size from huge full wall murals to duck decoys, her medium of choice is the highly detailed pencil drawing, and the subject can certainly vary as well.  Delvea's portraits have captured a child or a beloved animal, a couple just before exchanging vows, or the still, stolid representation of an abandoned country barn.  No matter the subject, they all reflect her ability to find intimacy and emotion in the smallest details.  "If I'm doing a commissioned piece," she explains, "no matter what the subject, I like to feel that I can somehow evoke the love that the person originally felt for that subject."      Delvea's work is able to magnificently capture a moment's feelings and ensure that they will last forever.  We invite you to see your favorite memories through her eyes.
